Its Competition Time Again

Some colour this week using watercolour pencils. If you don’t have these then ordinary coloured pencils will be fine.
We have loved seeing the work you have done on our other projects and thank you for sharing them with us.
This week we will be running a competition for this project.
We hope you enjoy this subject, our lovely teacher Jayne has put together a detailed step by step guide and you can download it below. it also includes the reference images.

There are two prize categories. For our more advanced students, ‘Best Piece of Work’ and for our newer students ‘Most Promising Piece of Work’.

There are two prizes, one which will hopefully appeal to beginners, a starter art pack and one for the more advanced artists, a Derwent Inktense Watercolour Set. Posted directly to the winners. Competition closes 31st May.
To enter you need to send us a picture of your artwork along with you name and your class location (if you are one of our students, if not just your location). You can email sarah@colourwheelartclass.co.uk or post your work on our Facebook page or share with your class host. I will let you know who the winners are after the closing date.

Richard is the glue that holds ColourWheel Butlers Cross together, although he would prefer ‘Chief Washer upper and general dogsbody. Not forgetting apprentice to Stacey and Jo! Nevertheless Richard will go out of his way to make sure your time at class will be pratically perfect in every way.

Roni is our ColourWheel partner in Bath. She lives in Somerset with her partner Isaac and their new baby boy Sonny! Outside of ColourWheel Roni is a Human Rights Lawyer, specialising in mental health, capacity and more recently special education needs.
Roni has grown up surrounded by art and artistic family members. Not having art in her life has never been an option! She believes that giving yourself time and space to reconnect with your creative side is the BEST thing you can do for yourself. Roni has always been passionate about helping others, and aside from the seriousness of her work, feels that the relaxed nature of a lovely art class is exactly what we all need – whether you have years and years of experience under your belt, or you have never picked up a pencil!

Nancy has a background in Art and Design including a BA (Hons) Design degree from Norwich School of Art, with a career working in Design and then teaching Textiles and Art.
After teaching GCSE and A Level Design Technology in Chichester, Nancy set up and ran Artworks for 17 years, an independent art studio for adults based in West Sussex. Offering a wide range of creative classes and workshops, Nancy created and ran classes herself in Drawing, Painting, Textiles, Printmaking and Fused Glass.
Nancy has been a glass artist for many years, and creates fused glass seascapes and landscapes in the form of wall art, freestanding pieces, and functional items such as bowls.
She is a member of the Artisan Gallery co-operative in North Street Chichester, and exhibits regularly in local art trails and national art fairs.
After recently moving to Hampshire, Nancy is currently renovating her bungalow. She loves visiting Cornwall as inspiration for her glass seascapes, and enjoys walking in the South Downs.
Nancy is looking forward to meeting you and nurturing you on your artist accomplishments.

Robin grew up surrounded by art, having both his parents work as artists and art tutors, he spent much of his childhood in studios and galleries, immersed in both traditional and contemporary practices. That early exposure sparked a lifelong fascination with drawing, painting and sculpture, and in 2017 he decided to pursue a career in Art. Stating with training in classical techniques at London Fine Art Studios, he continued developing through self-directed study – attending both in-person and online art schools, and learning through books, videos, and museum visits across Europe. The challenge to acquire a certain level of proficiency in drawing and painting has been a major focus of his education, and doing so has ultimately allowed him to experiment and expand artistically. All these experiences have given Robin a unique understanding of the logistics of drawing and painting as well as the learning process, something which he’s always excited to share with students. His current practice is rooted in representational art, often exploring narrative and figurative themes, however he draws inspiration from a wide range of sources. Robin’s work has been exhibited in both London and Essex, with his portrait ‘Gaze’ notably receiving the Heatherleys Drawing Award at the 75th Chelsea Art Society exhibition. As an artist and educator, Robin is passionate about sharing his experiences and methodology with others. His teaching allows for individual learning styles and goals, and is committed to helping students develop a deep understanding of the traditional arts. Ensuring students grasp both the theoretical and practical aspects of representational art, he aims to give each student a complete strategy. This allows them to tackle the difficult task of interpreting what we see with our eyes and learn how to put this down on paper or canvas. By breaking down this information into digestible lessons, Robin aims to allow students to apply what they learn practically and help them realise their artistic aspirations.

Having grown up in North London, Caroline has a deep-rooted connection to the area and is thrilled to bring ColourWheel to Muswell Hill. With a Master’s in History of Art and a career that seamlessly blends creativity with business, Caroline has worked extensively in photo agencies, image licensing as well as managing an online retail venture. But beyond strategy and operations, Caroline thrives on community and connection—whether contributing to discussions in a local book club, singing in a community choir, or enjoying long walks with friends. Now, she’s bringing her passion for art and people together and is looking forward to welcoming you to ColourWheel Muswell Hill.

Lorna Burrows is a multidisciplinary freelance artist specialising in pointillism and painting. Her work is often monochromatic and explores themes of gothic surrealism and portraiture. With 6 years’ experience in teaching, Lorna understands how to work with different learning styles and has a natural ability to engage people. Not only will you find Lorna’s work in exhibitions and publications across Manchester but she also curates her own exhibitions, being the founder of a successful collective of artists and DJs

Alessia Jones is passionate about Art & Design; helping people to enjoy their creativity and develop the skills they need to flourish! In her own practise she creates fine art paintings, giclée limited edition prints, illustrations and digital art prints. Her work is inspired by nature, animal totems, people, awesome encounters and dreams. Elevating the ordinary, in reflections of daily life! She works in a range of media, chosen to suit the subject matter, including; watercolour, acrylic and oils.

She is also an experienced teacher and has been teaching art and design for over 18 years, in schools and further education. Alessia studied Fine Art at Camberwell College and Goldsmiths College, London; graduating in 2002. Since then, she has achieved her PGCE in Art & Design and holds a Level 4 – City and Guilds Diploma, for teaching in Further Education.

Now living in Wiltshire, Salisbury, she is excited to exhibit regularly with Plain Arts and the Salisbury Arts Scene. Previously, she has sold her own art in London and Cornwall. Her work as part of The Armada Project (Lead by Anthony Oakshett) is also on permanent display at The House of Lords.

In addition to this, Alessia is a Reiki Master Practitioner; part of The Golden Reiki Way Lineage; Usui Tradition of Natural Healing. She offers Reiki treatments to those seeking help for healing and well being.

Henrietta has worked in the creative industries sector for over 23 years; from scenic carpentry, community arts, for the Arts Council, gallery management and art dealing before retraining to teach in 2019. Teaching has always been a life long goal as Henrietta is passionate about supporting others in creating and developing skills and knowledge in the arts. She has a deep belief in the importance the arts play in our health and well being, as an outlet for our self-expression and development and as a means to connect and communicate with the world around us.

In 2014, after a period focusing on employment opportunities, Henrietta returned to her studio, at the time in Lincolnshire, to focus on drawing. She produced a body of work that focused on trees and hedgerows, in charcoal and graphite, believing that to begin work again it was important to start with drawing, because everything starts with the drawing! A series of designs onto fine bone china resulted and an artisan business Clavering Art & Design Studio, began. The designs found interest with Fortnum & Masons and John Lewis Partners. Given the climate of retail and these being specialist products Henrietta decided not to pursue this business venture but go to teaching in order to also practice her own work and teach herself painting.

Currently Henrietta works as a teacher and art technician and has a studio where she is developing a series of works that focus on the connections between our environments and ourselves. She produces oil paintings and charcoal/ pastel drawings that express her experiences of the surrounding landscapes.

When not in the studio Henrietta runs with her lurcher Jessie or walks with both Jessie and terrier Budget! She is an avid reader and exhibition goer.

Introducing your Teacher and professional Artist With over 20 years of experience teaching art in a variety of settings, Helen Rogerson. helen is a passionate artist dedicated to connecting people with nature through creativity. Helen has exhibited work and completed commissions worldwide, drawing inspiration from the natural world to create evocative and engaging pieces.

An advocate for joyful learning, Helen believes that art education should be fun and interactive, enhancing the learning experience and fostering a deep love for artistic expression. This philosophy has been central to Helen’s teaching approach, making classes not only educational but also enjoyable for students of all ages.

In addition to teaching, Helen runs holistic retreats and provides healing treatments, offering a holistic approach to creativity and well-being. These retreats are designed to rejuvenate the mind and body, providing participants with a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in nature and creativity.

When not creating or teaching, Helen enjoys dancing and wild swimming, activities that further connect with the natural environment and fuel her artistic experience.

Introducing your Teacher and professional Artist Roshine McAuliffe, originally from London, she obtained her BA (Hons) degree in Fine Art in Manchester in 2005. She creates watercolours inspired by nature and often incorporates detailed drawings that show her love of botanicals in a whimsical style. Roshine has years of facilitating workshops that empower artists of all levels. She is dedicated to nurturing each individual’s creative potential, fostering a sense of play and experimentation.

Through her expert guidance, she provides technical instruction and support throughout the artistic process, drawing upon her extensive knowledge and skills in a range of mediums. She is inspired to pass on the joy of creativity.

Roshine has an enthusiastic and encouraging teaching style, injecting a fun and light hearted approach to her classes. This along with her exceptional technical ability that gives beginners the skills they need and pushes intermediates to grow and develop.

Karolina was originally born in Poland and this is where she grew up studying Tourism and Hospitality. At the age of 22 she decided to move to UK to look for more opportunities within her studies and where she could learn more languages to expand her career.

For the last 18 years Karolina has developed and mastered her management skills working in the food & beverage industry across the whole country , mainly living in Birmingham. But since meeting her fiance 7 years ago, she quickly moved to country side and settled her roots in Ledbury by Malvern.

Together with the ”love of her life” they decided to live at a slower pace and started living more mindfully, enjoying the nature of Herefordshire and Worcestershire, especially the Malvern Hills area.

Karolina enjoys morning yoga, meditation, she grows her own vegetables, looks after an allotment and home gardens, but her real passion…camping trips to Cornwall!

Her ultimate goal as a ColourWheel Franchisee is to continue delivering great art classes to the well established Malvern & Worcester class, but also enhancing them with a little bit of something different to the experience. Karolina is delighted to be able to use her skills within this new adventure and is looking forward to creating some mindful art moments and events for students and building a creative space to be proud of.

Mei was born in Bolton, grew up in Asia, and worked as a property consultant in London and Kuala Lumpur for nearly a decade before setting up the first professional art auction house in Malaysia.

In 2010, she left the corporate world to join the non-profit sector, working closely with youths, college students, and young adults for the next 13 years. Mei is also a certified ICF and Positive Intelligence coach who finds great joy in helping others uncover their inner creative resources to live a more authentic and full life.

If there were a 6th love language, Mei’s would be community. With a deep appreciation for what makes each person unique and a heart that’s ready to serve, she would love to hold a welcoming space for everyone who’d like to explore colour, beauty, and all things art.

I am thoroughly enjoying the ColourWheel Art Class. The benefit of all materials being supplied ensures that students have exactly what we need for the class, and it is not necessary to purchase anything in readiness for the classes, which means there are no additional expenses. Stacey and Richard, who run the class, are incredibly organised, from providing the lesson plan in advance and ensuring everything is set up before everyone arrives, meaning that we can make the most of the time in class. In addition to this they are wonderfully thoughtful in messaging if roads are closed, which is happening a lot around the class we attend. Also, they kindly supply a fabulous selection of refreshments and biscuits! They are very friendly and welcoming. Classes vary every week, allowing students to try a selection of mediums, styles and subjects. The classes are taught by Jo, she is highly knowledgeable, inspirational and has an engaging style. Jo provides excellent instructions and support. Her guidance is great and she also encourages your own creativity. She makes the lessons fun and I certainly feel that my art and confidence in what I produce, has improved. It is a very fulfilling class, I have completed two terms and without doubt will be signing up for the next. I would highly recommend this class. 10/10 .

He has taught artists young and old all over the world including South Korea and in Ecuador.

Gary was born and raised in Hong Kong. In the city he came from, Gary was a school art teacher, illustrator, urban sketcher and studio artist. Gary relocated to Wales in 2021.
Gary loves painting and sketching. He loves going outdoors to sketch both the urban and rural landscapes and would often create studio paintings with references to his sketches and photos. He is one of the co-founders of ‘Urban Sketchers Hong Kong’, the Hong Kong chapter of the worldwide urban sketchers network.
Gary loves sharing his craft with people who loves art as well. As an active urban sketcher, he regularly gives workshops and classes with topics related to on-location sketching. To see Garys art work CLICK HERE

Isaac thrives on attention to detail and customer service. He wants to ensure that you as a student are always getting the very best experience possible. Isaac has worked in a corporate setting for over a decade and now is looking forward to using his excellent people skills and client relations for something that ultimately is just to make people happy. Isaac was raised in Somerset and after some years in the city has finally returned with his young family and very mischievious puppy. Isaac is looking forward to working with the people in the wider community and is eager to combine all his acquired skills and passion to bring you exciting, friendly and inspiring art classes that are the ColourWheel way.

Cami, originally from the vibrant landscapes of South Africa, has called the South of England home for the past two decades. She thoroughly enjoys exploring the New Forest National Park with her young son and trusty dog, Rosa, finding inspiration in the beauty of nature.
With a decade of experience in the hospitality business and a BA Degree in Fine Art, Cami is thrilled to reignite her passion for art. Having recently discovered the vibrant community of Colour Wheel, she is excited to connect with fellow creatives and be a part of the unique learning experiences of each individual.spiring art classes that are the ColourWheel way.

Carolyn has spent most of her working life in Accounting whilst raising her three children who are now grown up! Although having an appreciation for Art, Carolyn has not painted or drawn since her school days. To express her creativity she has leant more towards arts & crafts and qualified as a Florist 15 years ago and more recently started willow sculpture.
Since moving to Devon she has been using her home grown cut flowers in her floristry and running small workshops locally.
When not in the garden or visiting her new grandson she can be found out walking her dogs along the River Otter. Carolyn was introduced to ColourWheel through her sister Ginette who runs CW South Hampshire and is eager to combine all her acquired skills to bring you exciting, friendly and inspiring art classes that are the ColourWheel way.’

I was born in Cardiff, Wales, and have spent most of my adult life in London. I completed my bachelor’s degree in pharmacology and have since been working in the pharmaceutical industry.
From a young age I have always had a passion for art and creativity, however the last time I truly immersed myself in the subject was during my GCSE’s, before my focus shifted to academia and the corporate world. I have been looking to change career paths to go back to my creative routes and be part of something meaningful, and this is how I came to join Colourwheel.
Outside of work, I have a passion for travelling, reading, interior design, dance, and I am an avid film buff!

Janice is a qualified Graphic Designer and Illustrator, with a first-class honours degree. She lived and worked in Germany for eight years, teaching English as a Foreign Language, and later returned to the UK to teach Art and Design in a secondary school and adults at a local college.
She has recently retired from teaching and begun to work in her home studio creating and selling her own artwork.
Janice has a depth of experience in using and teaching a wide range of media: from mixed-media, 3D clay, watercolour painting and reduction lino printing. She is an experienced artist and personally enjoy using mixed media in her painting.
In addition to painting, Janice’s interests include playing the flute and badminton. She loves Siamese and Oriental cats and also has an old one-eyed dog.

Becky is a passionate artist and educator finding a love of mixed media and surface embellishment while studying for BA Hons Degree in Art and Design. With a background in teaching in the community and schools she has dedicated her carer to nurturing artistic skills and wellbeing in others, inspiring people to discover their own creative potential.

After completing a BA (hons) in Design at Ravensbourne College of Design and Communications, Susi London worked initially as an interior designer and then as an illustrator, working mainly in water based paints and airbrushing. She then qualified as a teacher and taught art and design full time at a Sixth Form College in London for 5 years. This was followed by a period as a web designer, during which time, painting and drawing remained her favourite pastime. More recently Susi has specialised in painting in acrylics and exhibits with various art clubs and at art trails, selling her work. Her paintings can be seen at CLICK HERE and on Instagram @susi_london. She believes that everyone has creative abilities and enjoys teaching the skills to enable people to bring out theirs.

Amanda is our partner for Stroud and also Cheltenham. Having originally been to school in Cheltenham, she returned and made her home here in 2011 with her husband and 2 cats. Amanda enjoys everything the area has to offer from its great restaurants, wonderful countryside and wide ranging festivals. She has always loved everything to do with art and particularly enjoys painting and using pastels in her spare time. Having been a ColourWheel student herself, Amanda loved the welcoming and supportive atmosphere at the Cheltenham class and was delighted when the opportunity arose to become the Cheltenham ColourWheel partner. Following her career in education as Class Teacher and Head of Department, Amanda is passionate about ensuring that her students have a wonderful learning experience and feel fully supported whatever their experience or ability.

Natalia has always had a passion for art, starting with a formal art education at Collage of art in St. Petersburg, Russia. Throughout her adult life she has continued to nurture her talent, excelling in creating beautiful and unique pieces using different art medias in her free time. In addition, she has bachelor degree in management, and has been working as a professional wedding photographer for the last 15 years. Natalia has lived in Lancaster since 2010 with her two children (12 and 19 now) and her two furry babies: big fluffy cat and teeny tiny chihuahua! Natalia absolutely loves the local people and artistic vibes of this corner of the country.

Louise is based in Solihull, she has a BA in Decorative Arts and an MA in Fashion & Textiles. Having a passion for Colour, Texture and Drawing, she has shared her skills, teaching to different age ranges for over 18 years, in particular, she has taught in Colleges, Universities and art groups. She is keen to show how enjoyable art can be. Having previously sold handmade scarves with an Architectural theme to galleries and clients, she now focuses on the natural world and loves using plants and vegetables from her allotment to dye fabrics. When she is not teaching she loves to spend her pastime walking in the country, where she finds inspiration for new work, and loves to do a bit of yoga.
Teaching art is something Louise is passionate about, as she loves to support other people on their artist journey.

Emma is a multi-disciplinary Fine Artist based in Hampshire, with a BA in Fine Art, a Masters in Teaching, Fellowship status with the Higher Education Academy & is currently studying for a PhD in education & wellbeing; so building creativity, a fun-filled, friendly atmosphere & the wellbeing of her students is key to how she teaches. “Traditionally specializing in realism portraiture, I work in many mediums, subjects & teach many classes for beginners & intermediates across Hampshire. I strongly believe that there isn’t only one way of doing something, so my teaching ethos focuses on the individual & their way of learning. Perhaps you like to use big, expressive patterns & lots of colour? Or perhaps you prefer creating small, detailed pieces? PICKUP YOUR PAINTBRUSH AND GO This class is fab , having not done any artwork for years it has given me back the incentive to pick up my paintbrush and pens. The content of the classes is well thought out and you are taught the techniques to get a good result no need to any special talent as the teaching is so good and encourages individuality, give it a try.

The weekly subjects, images, styles and different media, with examples by established artists and all the paints and paper etc provided make the class challenging but supportive in a friendly environment, regardless of one’s own ability. I started Colourwheel this January as I wanted to learn the skills needed to draw and paint for my own enjoyment. The last time I studied art was at school which was many years ago, so I was basically starting from scratch. The ColourWheel classes each week have been a joy and also lots of fun. I recently moved into the Cheshire area so the classes have also allowed me to meet people in the area. Everyone has been very friendly and Lesley, who started the classes, is great at encouraging us all. The abilities of the people in the classes range from beginners to those that want to add to their existing skills. Dave is an excellent and skilled teacher and is really encouraging in supporting my, and all of the classes’ efforts each week. I definitely recommend Colourwheel to anyone. .

I am just about to finish my first term with ColourWheel at Marthall village Hall (between Chelford and Knutsford). The three-hour classes take place in this light and airy modern village hall under the pupillage of David Barber our art teacher and Lesley Noone his most helpful classroom assistant. We are some 20 students of mixed abilities and artistic experience who gather each Tuesday morning and lose ourselves in our drawing and painting. We have covered the use of many mediums and techniques: pencil drawing, charcoal, watercolour, acrylic paints, and oils. It’s a great group for anyone who enjoys their art. .

I have had both online & face to face lessons with ColourWheel East Cheshire, and I’ve really enjoyed both formats. Lesley organises everything perfectly – all materials are provided along with weekly fact sheets and videos of the lessons. The teaching is great and the lessons are suitable for anyone from beginner to those looking to build on existing talents. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to join an art course, this is an excellent one! Lesley who organises each lesson is very professional, helpful and friendly. Always on hand during the lesson if you require any more materials and giving you lots of encouragement. Dave the art teacher delivers his lessons very professionally by demonstrating step by step each new technique, which is extremely helpful. Derek has recently returned home to High Wycombe after many years living and working in London. Derek studied at the prestigious Slade School of Fine Art and has exhibited extensively in the UK and abroad. He teaches at Hampstead School of Art and occasionally at the Slade, also a visiting lecturer at most London Art schools including Goldsmiths and the Royal Academy. A working and exhibiting artist, Derek uses many mediums and his scope is broad and not limited to painting, regularly incorporating Video, Photography and Installation. Derek loves the time away from his studio working with and teaching his students. His exhibitions include What Make You, What Makes You at the South London Gallery, Space International, Valencia, Spain and the Museum of Optography at Sharjah Foundation, UAE. Derek’s work is very human, exploring life, death, beauty and the sublime. Derek is a very enthusiastic teacher who injects fun and a light hearted approach with a technical skill that gives beginners the skills they need and pushes intermediates to grow and develop.

Karina grew up in Riga, Latvia, but has spent almost 20 years living and working in Lancaster. Her passion for art and fashion led her to study Art and Design at Lancaster and Morecambe collage followed by Fashion and Design at UCLan (University of Central Lancashire). Karina has a deep love for fashion, sewing, art, design, and photography. She enjoys bringing her creative ideas to life, whether through designing garments, working with fabrics, or capturing artistic moments through her camera.

Denise qualified in Fine Art, Textile and Graphic Design. Practising Adult Education Tutor and Exhibiting Artist, both in the UK and USA. Extensive experience teaching in workshops, galleries and museums to public and private audiences. Special studies – Central St Martins School of Art: Expressive Communication in Multi-media painting. Golden Artist Educator Program, New Orleans USA – Technical/practical study of Golden Artist Paints & Mediums.
Denise is a versatile and vibrant artist who to loves to teach, passing her knowledge on to her students, she is fun and encouraging and her love for the subject shines through her lessons.

David was born in 1968 and is a fully qualified and experienced teacher as well as a successful, realist artist. He prefers to paint from life, ‘en plein air’ or from still life arrangements in his studio, because he feels this gives more of a direct connection with his subject matter.
David gained a degree in fine art and worked for several years as a commercial artist and illustrator before embarking on a 20-year teaching career. In 2021 he made the momentous decision to give up full-time teaching and instead, paint for a living, something he had always wanted to do. David’s work is now exhibited in three galleries and recently it was the subject of a five-page article in ‘Artists and Illustrators’, a high-point in his career.
David says ‘While studying art at university in the early 90s, my wife and I dreamt of one day having our own studio and making art for a living. Thirty years, a major house renovation and two beautiful daughters later, we now have that studio in our small cottage in the countryside, where we make our paintings and pottery. We love what we do, and we love sharing what we’ve learned’.
Although David no longer teaches full-time, he is passionate about helping others to develop their skills and gain pleasure from art, and still runs art workshops and classes for adults.

I wanted to share my deep gratitude to Matt and Nikki for running The ColourWheel in Islip. Every week I am looking forward to my 3 hours of creativity in the most beautiful village of Islip. I never thought of myself as talented in drawing or painting and hence never dared to even try. After starting this Art class I can see now that I have deprived myself of the joy of creativity and the freedom to express myself in a different way. The art class is run by Nikki in such a smooth and thoughtful manner – various materials are provided for every lesson, pencils are sharpened, props and handouts are ready to use and even coffee, tea and biscuits are provided – that the only thing I need to do is to allow myself to be creative. Matt’s professional, but very friendly and warm approach to teaching art is very encouraging for the new students like me. We receive the student notes after each class with the detailed explanations of the techniques and use of different materials. The structures of the lesson is very easy to follow and I don’t even notice when I push myself out of my comfort zone by using some new and challenging materials. I find this class very therapeutic for me as it allows to unwind and express myself by creating some lovely pieces, which some of my fellow students referred to as “bold”. I am not afraid of making mistakes anymore and although the creative process can still be quite challenging for me, I feel more confident in finding my own way of expressing myself and looking forward to continue with this class in the next term. .

I enjoy learning something new, having a go at trying to create something that vaguely looks like the real thing, enjoying that it’s mine and I did that whatever it is, liking other people’s company, enjoying that no one else can contact me for 3 hours, the peace, enjoying doing it with other people who are enjoying it to. As a teacher Faye is lovely and personable and wants people to do well. She makes it easy to understand. The atmosphere is good, quiet, and focussed with a bit of laughter. How it should be I think. Harmeet is originally from India. She has completed her masters in computer science and fine arts. After completing fine arts she continued to study Textile design. Harmeet came to the United Kingdom in 2010. In 2016 she got married and starting working at Heathrow Airport. Harmeet now has two beautiful children. Covid and Furlough gave Harmeet an opportunity to look for ways to change her life and she found ColourWheel. With her passion for art, design and technology she jumped at the chance to run her own ColourWheel Classes. She is very much looking forward to welcoming you to her classes.

Faye has been teaching with ColourWheel since we opened our first class in Maidenhead in 2015 and was instrumental is putting together the curriculum, planning and learning goals that make our classes so successful. Before that has been teaching for over 20 years.
Faye is an artist using the experience she gained in her early years as a film maker and photographer bringing it to her own work. Faye’s teaching career has always been geared towards adults which is the field of her teaching qualification and she also has a degree in Cinematography.
In her spare time Faye is continually working on her own art work, she loves music, practices every day and plays the classical guitar. Faye is involved in her local community and charity work.

Nikki did her Masters Fine Art at Winchester School of Art and her BA in Photography from Southampton Solent University.
Nikki started her artistic journey a little later and spent the early part of her life working in Dentistry.
A freelance artist and educator teaching art since the beginning of January 2014, working mainly with adults Nikki loves teaching and has run her own drawing and watercolour classes. Tutoring and mentoring, running and organising classes she has taught painting techniques, photography and basic video skills.
Having recently moved back to Hampshire from Sussex Nikki paints the seaside and shores in all weathers which gives her huge inspiration. Nikki is also an excellent photographer. She loves to walk, adores the outdoors, reading and travelling. Also loves art films, reading and writing poetry.

Emma works from her home studio based in Cheshire, producing paintings and textiles which she sells via her website www.emmalonsdale.com. After graduating from Manchester metropolitan with a first in textiles she has won awards, exhibited her artwork in various galleries, collaborated with high end retailers, worked in industry as a textiles and surface pattern designer and created her own creative brand. Emma is also a qualified Art teacher with over 10 years experience of working in a variety of colleges, universities and specialist schools. Being creative is important and she enjoys sharing her skills and encouraging others to have a go and indulge themselves in Art. Alongside her passion for all things creative she adores her family and her beloved labradoodle ‘Ruby’.

Sharon is a visual creative artist with a passion for art. Painting is her strength. She has painted many large wall murals both inside and outside. Colour mixing with only 3 colours to create all other colours. She regularly paints on canvas to create stunning art work.

Sharon LOVES colour and enjoys working with lots of mediums including Acrylics, watercolours, pastels and pencils, charcoal etc.

Fun and outgoing. She loves creating. From scrapbooking, vinyl cutting, sublimation printing, to dressmaking, upcycling and creating new designs. Sharon wants to create and design her own wallpaper one day.

A local girl all her life and married with three children Tahira has a love of art that has endured since school. With a degree from University College London in Civil and Environmental Engineering Tahira has worked outside of the art environment until she started her art classes in Langdon Hills. Along with her family Tahira has a love of cats, mainly rescues, she currently gives home to five of them. As well as her devotion to animals Tahira loves to travel and her favourite destination is Rome. Along with her teacher Cherish she loves hosting art classes taking particular enjoyment from participating in their students creative journey. Tahira is looking forward to meeting new students and welcoming them to class.

Ginette grew up in Kent and gained an HND in Photography at the Kent Institute of Art and Design, followed by a 20 year career as a freelance Photographer in and around London.
For the past 9 years she has lived in Hampshire with her husband and daughter aged 13. After building their own house and raising Izzy, Ginette felt she wanted to get back to work in the creative world somehow, as she still retains today a passion for the way light can change a subject.
She recently attended art classes for herself (having not touched a pencil or brush since school!) and found it to be the highlight of her week. She is thrilled to have found Colour Wheel so that she can now combine her love of art with work and offer many more people the opportunity of the same escapism and indulgence that she loves so much herself. She is looking forward to welcoming you to her relaxing, social and informal classes.
Ginette is an avid animal lover and has two dogs, plus would love to also keep rescue chickens, and a horse or two!

I have come so far thanks to the oodles of encouragement from tracy, Julie, Carly and my classmates. It was only ever going to be a dabble I thought.. it has become so much more than just a trial at art. It’s me time, a therapy, a step into the unknown, anxiety release, a restoration for confidence and self esteem, a place to learn techniques and build on skills… it is so much more than I expected!!! Stacey is married to Richard and they have two grown up children and 3 small grandsons. Living around the corner in Great Missenden Stacey’s earlier career was with the BBC. As a location manager and then later as a production manager and first assistant director Stacey is an amazing organiser.
Stacey likes working on creative projects and bringing ideas to life. In her spare time she loves nothing more than swimming, walking and spending time with her grandchildren.
An adventurous soul emigrating to Australia for 10 years Stacey is enjoying being back in the beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside.
Stacey is running both our Chesham & Butlers Cross classes with teacher Jo on a Tuesday and a Friday.

Stella is a fantastic Devon-based artist with ten years of teaching experience and successful career as a freelance artist and sculptor. Stella is an encouraging and motivational teacher who focusses on technique and encourages her students to experiment. A full-time teacher for the last ten years and a practicing artist for over twenty-five years, Stella has worked on numerous commissions to private and public customers and had many solo and joint exhibitions. Stella has a Batchelor of Arts Degree from Brighton University and when not teaching or creating, you can find Stella growing her own fruit and vegetables, cooking up a storm and enjoying the latest David Attenborough series

Jules is a full-time Artist who works from her home studio in Ansdell.
Having completed a degree in Scientific illustration in the 90’s, Jules went to work at a local publishers, initially as a Graphic Artist but soon after with her combined love of design and training and people development she went on to become the Art room Manager and later the Production Manager. Whilst her role had become less creative, Jules continued to draw and paint in her own time doing regular commissions, mainly portraiture. Nine years ago this grew into a part time Art business. Jules’s main commission work is detailed people and pet portraits but Jules also now has a successful Etsy shop where she sells a wide range of cards, prints and printed products with her illustrations on worldwide. A year ago she took the decision to do what she loves full time. Julie is very excited to be part of the ColourWheel team, to share her creative knowledge and skills, whilst developing, encouraging and motivating the students in their artistic pursuits. . .

I was nervous to go along to art lessons, but so glad I did. I’ve met some lovely like minded people who all help out with humour, knowledge and genuinely care.

With Colourwheel Art Classes you will be amazed at what you can achieve. I was a complete beginner and have learned so much from the very varied subjects we have undertaken. You will be sure to find something inspiring to take away and use in your own work outside classes.
Each week a different medium is chosen; be it charcoal, graphite, acrylic paints, inks – to name a few. Detailed notes are sent out to accompany the live class. If you are unable to attend one week, a video is made to enable you to work on your own, or indeed, repeat the class at your leisure.

I have been attending the East Cheshire Colourwheel classes for 12 months following a friend’s recommendation. I had a GCSE in art but hadn’t tried to draw anything for 30 years. The classes have enabled me to slowly build my confidence, skills and personal style, and I find myself wanting to sketch or paint most of the time.
Each lesson is carefully planned to ensure we learn about the different mediums and have time to practice techniques and styles. Lots of positive feedback is given through the lesson, and the students are full of encouragement. We are provided with detailed lesson notes, with a step-by-step guide, and a recording of each lesson so it’s easy to go back and revisit things if necessary or if a lesson is missed.
I can’t recommend these classes enough. They are great for anyone who is interested in art, especially beginners or those lacking confidence.

The online art course is just a total delight. The blocks of activities allow you to try a number of different media, with just the right balance between switching to try something new and building on the techniques and practices that you have already attempted. I am now a veteran of seven blocks and it never feels repetitive.
The projects are all great fun and the teacher, Fionnuala, is very clear and helpful, offering well-aimed inspiration and encouragement. There are pauses at various stages for feedback – if you wish to receive it- no compulsion! The teaching, but not the feedback session, is recorded and sent out later, so you can catch up if you missed a session or just want to have another go. The organisation by Lesley is great too. There are new joiners’ and returners’ art packs so that you can ask to have all of the materials sent to you. You do not need to do anything except turn up.
The group has a very welcoming and encouraging WhatsApp group so you can post your pieces afterwards, if you wish, and comment on others’ artworks. We find we learn a great deal from seeing how others have tackled the tasks and from observing the variety of styles within the group.
The main reason, though, that I keep coming back is that it is just a totally relaxing two and a half hours, when you can get completely absorbed and have a go at things you might not otherwise have thought of tackling. I love it!

The Colourwheel art course in Islip has been an utter delight to participate in.
Matt is a fabulous art teacher, filled with positivity and encouragement together with his gentle sense of humour.
Nicky is a wonderful support to all of us, including her knowledge and understanding of each class.
There is a special ‘feel good factor’ derived from producing a piece of work every week, along with the social aspect of sharing time and conversation with kind, considerate, like minded people.

Tracy has for many years worked and exhibited her artwork all over the globe. She uses her art to help and encourage people to become who they were always meant to be.
Art has played an enormous roll throughout her life. She is a professional artist and teacher. Art is at the forefront of everything she does. From exhibitions to opening Holistic Art studios in Iraq to help people escape trauma. Tracy is passionate, supportive, and extremely creative. She adores Abstract art but finds all mediums exciting and rewarding.

Sarah lives in Cheshire, she’s originally from Nottingham but has now settled in this lovely county. She has painted and drawn her whole life, her grandad taught her to draw from a very young age. This has always been a love throughout her life but she focused on developing a number of businesses in different industries. The last 4 years have been spent living in America owning a small company and raising her children.
Now Holly is excited to have returned back to England to her family and friends and created a perfect opportunity to focus on her passions and a new career all combined! .

A local girl for most of her life, Elaine left her corporate job in IT to raise her 3 children. During that time she joined our Maidenhead class and after nearly 4 years as a student, loved it so much she decided to become a partner.

She now paints regularly, doing commissions in her spare time and enjoys drawing with her youngest daughter. As well as her love of art, Elaine is an active member of her community, working as a volunteer providing help and support for the elderly. Along with her children she is also an animal lover and has two sausage dogs, Olive and Busby as well as a horse, so never a dull moment in her household! She is also a keen golfer, albeit seasonal as well as squad manager for her local hockey club at junior level.
Elaine is passionate about providing amazing art classes for all abilities and hopes to inspire everyone to ignite their inner “artist”.

Heidi is an Artist and Designer with over 30 years experience. After completing her B.A. Hons. in Printed Textiles at Middlesex University she initially worked as a freelance Textile and Graphic designer. Other roles in the Fashion Industry included Design Manager and Product Development Manager, designing and developing clothing ranges for many high street retailers. She has also painted and taught throughout her career, exhibiting work in London and locally.
She has diverse creative skills in Art & Design and gets great satisfaction from sharing her skills to help inspire students to explore and develop their own creativity and potential. Painting is her passion and an essential part of her life, she is constantly drawn to water and the river as themes in her work.
Heidi is keen to promote the positive effect that Art & Creativity has on our emotional, physical and mental well-being. She believes it’s important and enjoyable to learn new skills that sometimes take you out of your comfort zone to learn something new and have fun!

Swati is a professional artist, with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Mumbai, India. She lives in Solihull and works from a studio at home creating art on Canvas & paper for various art fairs & commissions. She has sold several pieces of art in the UK, USA, Dubai, Singapore & India, over the last two decades.
She loves using mixed media for her work and often combines acrylics with soft pastels, foil, inks and pens. She specialises in textured artwork!
Teaching art is something she is passionate about, as she loves to support other people on their art journey. Currently she teaches children & adults.

As a busy, working Mum of 3 I have always wanted to get back into Art (it was my favourite subject at school). Over the last few years I have tried a few times to pick up a pencil/brush but just lacked the motivation, time and confidence. I am now 8 weeks into my first Colourwheel course and I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
Both Inge and Elaine are friendly, inspiring, encouraging, welcoming and great teachers. They make suggestions, but always allow you to have freedom over your Artwork which is great. I have learnt so much already and re-found my passion. It’s an amazing feeling, to turn off your mobile, forget your worries and paint/draw for 3 hours. I’m completely hooked!
I would absolutely recommend this course for anyone looking to begin in Art, or someone like me who has a little experience but wants to improve. Thank you Colourwheel!

’ve just completed my fourth course with the ColourWheel East Cheshire group online and I can’t wait to start the fifth! The group is organised by Lesley who is very welcoming and extremely efficient.
I opt to have all course materials sent to me so I don’t have to spend time sourcing what’s necessary but this is optional.
Our teacher Fionnuala is so talented and patient and I’m amazed at the variety of mediums and subjects we’ve tackled this term. I’m grateful to have the opportunity several times a class for Fionnuala to suggest corrections (and rescue) my art very gently and always with encouragement.
The atmosphere is very relaxed and positive. I also look forward to seeing everyone’s work on our WhatsApp group after the class (with no obligation to share) as I learn so much from my classmates too.
I cannot recommend the class highly enough.

In an ever-increasing world of busyness, where there is always something or someone requiring our attention. Our ColourWheel classes for me are like an oasis in the desert and a time where I can enjoy ‘time out’ to be by myself and with others at the same time.
Enjoying three calm and creative hours, uninterrupted by the world outside our room at the Royal Windsor Racecourse is an absolute treat, which I look forward to each week, as soon as I leave that room!
I only remarked a couple of weeks ago how well Rene and Erica work together as both colleagues and friends, which sets the tone for the friendly atmosphere we enjoy every week.
Each week we learn a new painting skill with Erica. She works with us at a pace that works for all. Each week I come away feeling happy, with learning something new, in a pleasant setting and having really enjoyed my ‘time out’.
On a practical note, Rene sets all our necessary ‘tools’ out for us each week, so we don’t have to remember anything other than any tools we are provided with and of course ‘ourselves’! We also have a little refreshment break, where we can catch up with one another.
I can highly recommend these wonderful classes to anyone and at any level.

I had wanted to learn to draw and paint for years. I had tried other classes but they lacked the planning and clear explanation needed for progress.
I enrolled with ColourWheel classes in September 2017 and am now beginning my 12th term! What began as a “lesson with other people” has developed into an enjoyable art class with an atmosphere that is relaxed, friendly and supportive. We meet in a lovely light venue overlooking the racecourse.
Each term affords us a varied syllabus in a range of media which gives us new skills to develop our own style. I have learned to really look at what I see; to observe carefully – be it skin tones, shadows, highlights, perspective and more.
We are lucky to have a super talented teacher, Erica, who explains and clearly demonstrates the task. She never criticises, only suggests and encourages to build our confidence. Classes are so well organised. Rene has everything set out for our lesson before we arrive. Paper, pencils, paints…nothing is missing and, she is ready with whatever we need before we even ask!
All we have to do… is enjoy our very sociable art class.

I joined Colourwheel in 2017 having decided in my retirement that I wanted to get back to doing art (having given it up at school at the age of 14) and this class sounded just right.
I was proved entirely correct in my assumption. The course, the organisation and the tutors are all excellent.
Many art classes require you to provide your own materials but Colourwheel provides them. Quite a big bonus, I’d say.
I can’t think of a better way of relaxing for 3 hours on a morning or afternoon irrespective of whether you produce a masterpiece at the end of it or not. You may well surprise yourself and discover a hidden talent.
It’s the enjoyment and total absorption I experience when I’m in the class that to me is priceless.
Give it a go. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

I have been attending this course for many years, so I can certainly recommend it. Returners are welcome – the media repeat but the exercises change.
What an excellent job of organising the course and along with teacher Inge, makes everyone feel most welcome.
The atmosphere is very friendly and I have made many friends over the years. The venue is super with great parking and access. I use a wheelchair and it is very well set up for wheelchair users.
Each week’s class includes comprehensive notes sent by email beforehand, which one can read or not. It doesn’t matter because Inge talks the class through the exercises and does demonstrations at key points.
It is a relaxed and comfortable learning environment!

Matt has been teaching art for over ten years to a range of different age groups. He has a degree in Illustration, a PGCE in Secondary Art and an MA in Fine Art Drawing. He has consistently maintained his art practice and also curated, exhibited and sold work.

When not creating, teaching, looking at or thinking about art he likes to walk in the country, relax with some literature, listen to music, make music and enjoys good ale. Although he admits much of this lends itself to thinking about art.

When a pretty colourful A5 card landed on the mat in Spring ’19 saying “be AMAZED at what YOU CAN ACHIEVE … I was intrigued. So I called, I booked, and I was quite amazed at what I did achieve, not having picked up a paintbrush for years.
The organiser was efficient, our tutor talented, clear and attentive and I enjoyed myself hugely. So thank you ColourWheel for the ever-efficient class host, the lovely Libby, Linzi,Becky and other tutors who’ve stepped in as need be, for all the fun and new friends.
I’m coming back for more, and can’t wait to see what’s in store this autumn! .

Claire Watson graduated from The University of Worcester in 2010. It was during her time here that she discovered a passion for clay and printmaking. Claire chooses to explore varied mediums believing each project or brief dictates its own unique process, materials and approach.
“A sense of self discovery blooms in the learning of a new process and total immersion of self into the space, the character, the history and the research process”. Claire believes the work engages in a narrative and so its own unique journey.
Claire resides in the village of Bretforton at the base of the Cotswolds; working from a studio at home she creates work for exhibitions and commissions. Claire runs a weekly adult Art group and also teaches at a school, while also providing bespoke Art workshops for schools and organisations.

I’ve been doing these these sessions for 2 years, and I can’t praise them enough. I hadn’t done any art since school (more years ago than I care to admit!) but I have learnt so much, and have produced work I would never have believed possible.
Yes, the classes do contain a mix of people, from novices to those with more experience, but that really doesn’t matter. Atmosphere is very relaxed, and you learn from each other. Teaching is fantastic…if you are happy to go ahead on your own after the initial guidance, that’s great. If you need more support, then you get it. An incredibly supportive environment.
No, I’m not paid to say this, but I’m just one very happy customer 😁 .

I have really enjoyed the past course, but can see I have much more to learn so will be back when the new course starts! I have enjoyed having 3 hours to sit and concentrate on the art each week – a real break from all the usual rushing around in daily life, nothing just for me. As well as the actual art class itself, I have enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and gentle humour of our teacher. The system is place is really efficient with everything I need for the lesson being brought to my table and I have not needed to bring anything extra to the lessons. I was surprised how engrossed I had become in the final project over the last 2 weeks – I have never spent 6 hours working on just one piece of art before. I am looking forward to returning in September to learn more in the well-structured course taking me though from basics to more complex ideas. In the current difficult times with Covid, I felt secure in a well-managed situation in a spacious and well ventilated hall. .

As a student of your classes I found them to be very well prepared, I felt that all my needs were well catered for, and very well thought through, everything that I or anybody else needed was provided. The venue is an excellent facility great light, well ventilated with good work areas (during the restrictions all regulations were met). Leaving students feeling safe and appropriately segregated from each other. I also found Sarah, our tutor was able to relax the atmosphere for new students either starting out or for those of us coming back into art classes , she also was able to support all the students throughout the course. Everybody was given the opportunity to try different art medium whilst on the course, trying different projects each week. I would like to say that I thought the course was extremely enjoyable, good value for money, supported by having a very good tutor. My final thanks goes out again to Clare for managing to produce a very well organised, relaxed and enjoyable course, l am very much looking forward to joining you again. .

Fionnuala is a talented artist and printmaker, graduating from Glasgow School of Art in 2014 with a BA (Hons) Degree in Fine Art: Painting and Printmaking (First Class). She currently divides her time between running a successful printmaking business and carrying out a number of part-time teaching roles, satisfying a lifelong passion for sharing her creative skills with others. She regularly exhibits her work in galleries and exhibitions across the UK and Ireland, including The Royal Scottish Academy and The Glasgow Print Studio.

Since 2015 she has regularly run classes for both adults and children across a range of mediums and various skills levels. She prides herself on creating a strong rapport with her students and promoting a fun, relaxed environment for learning. Her aim is to inspire confidence and belief in her students, to make sure they know there is not just one right way to draw, paint or make, and to help them find their niche in the creative area they are most drawn to.

Nikki has lived locally all her life and always had a passion for all forms of art. Having taken the subject at Sixth Form college but not any further, there’s a large part of her that wishes she had ever since. After being taught some simple techniques and skills from an art teacher friend, she gained more confidence in painting as a hobby and would now like to see others achieve the same pleasure, sense of achievement and escapism that comes from art and painting.

Until recently Nikki has worked from home making interior soft furnishings for which she has a huge passion but now feels the need to do something with more human interaction. She believes art is a great way to unwind and remove yourself from the hustle and bustle of everyday life that is sometimes all consuming for many of us.

Nikki has two daughters in their late teens and a very characterful and cheeky border terrier called George, who is well known for disappearing any time he is let off the lead! Nikki and her husband Simon enjoy getting out and about, exploring the countryside with George, both locally and further afield, good food and of course, the occasional glass of wine!

Vanessa first trained as a fine artist, and fine art lecturer in the North of England. With a specialism in drawing and painting, she began teaching, and developed her own practice from a studio at the Haworth Art Gallery.
Vanessa became increasingly interested in the social and personal change art can enact. She went on to complete a masters in Art psychotherapy and now divides her time between teaching and carrying out art therapy sessions. She has most recently helped to facilitate a group with Manchester Art Gallery, and enjoys the diversity of people she works with.

Louise is a professional illustrator and painter as well as having extensive experience teaching art up to degree level.
Until her recent move to Devon Louise was the Course Leader at Barnett and Southgate College and before that she was a Lecturer at Westminster University and Norwich School of Art for over ten years.
Before and whilst teaching she was an illustrator and her work covered both advertising and editorial illustration and Louise’s work has been published nationally and internationally.
With an MA from the Royal College of Art Louise has a beautiful style and she is currently exhibiting at a number of galleries including Artenax in Topsham. You can check out Louise’s work here www.louisekellyartcom. We particularly love her potatoes!
Louise now works from her studio in Devon, drawing inspiration from the surrounding countryside and nearby Jurassic coast. When she is not working on her art she has a passion for outdoor swimming and enjoys listening to music, cooking, gardening, film and theatre.

Jo is an illustrator and designer based in Oxfordshire with her husband, Two children, Two dogs, and Two cats. Having graduated with a (BA )HONS in Fine Art. Jo has worked within the commercial market as a successful illustrator. Her clients include John Lewis, National Trust, Marks and Spencer & Little Tiger Press.
Prior to joining ColourWheel Jo worked as the Head Designer within a busy art studio.
She now teaches part-time, as well as having her Art agent for whom she supplies original pieces of work commissioned by clients from around the world. Using traditional and digital techniques together. Whatever the style, her passion is to create engaging art.
When not being ‘Arty’ Jo, will train for, and compete in endurance competitions and ultra marathons.

Sarah’s background is in training and personal growth development in a corporate environment. Her professional experience is as an HR Partner working as part of the senior management team in various SME’s over the last 20 years. Sarah’s role is to develop the ColourWheel brand and grow the network. She manages the team and provides collaborative leadership to head office staff and franchisees alike, working as a single unit with a goal to achieve a wonderful work/lifestyle balance for everyone.

Sarah is our partner in Exeter and runs classes in Ide and Topsham.
Sarah comes from a theatre background where she worked as a production manager and producer. Sarah has a BA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from the Open University.
Sarah has recently moved to Devon and is enjoying the outdoors lifestyle. Loves swimming in the sea (even in winter), camping, hiking, scuba diving and volunteers for the charity Re: Act Disaster Response. Sarah also loves music, reading, fun facts and keeping the wood-burning stove alight at our West Town Farm venue during the winter!
Sarah is friendly, sociable and loves meeting new people and making friends.

Sue is married with two grown up children.
Following a career in administration and banking she wants to work in an area that is inspiring and creative.

Carly has worked with ColourWheel since its inception. Carly ran her own business successfully for many years before being instrumental in setting up the original ColourWheel classes from scratch.

Alongside creating, licensing and exhibiting her work, Sarah spends much of her time teaching Art for Skill and Art for Wellbeing classes and workshops.

Sarah is a supportive, nurturing and encouraging teacher who specialises in teaching adults in a wide variety of community settings. Sarah holds a BA (Hons) degree in Fine Art and a DipHE in Painting, and studied art with the University of The Creative Arts (UCA) and the Open College of the Arts (OCA). She also holds certificates in tutoring and training adult learners. Her additional studies in Cognitive Psychology, NLP, Mindfulness, Life Coaching, Stress Management and Meditation help her to create engaging bespoke classes and workshops.

A mixed Media artist, her work embraces both representational and abstract styles, exploring vibrant colour, nature, land and seascape. Sarah has exhibited her work in London, and the home counties and was a finalist in the Pebeo Mixed Media Art competition 2017, exhibiting at London’s Strand Gallery. She is currently working on a series of 100 pieces to be exhibited in 2025.

Sarah lives locally and when not creating new artwork, she loves to spend time at home with her partner, cuddle up with her cat or take a walk in nature to gather fresh inspiration.

Katie Tomlinson graduated from Manchester School of Art in 2018 and has since taught on the undergraduate Fine Art programme. Alongside teaching at ColourWheel and Manchester School of Art, Katie works as a freelance artist.
Predominantly Katie creates large figurative paintings, but her wider practice incorporates collage, drawing and sculpture. She has exhibited widely and most recently exhibited at Castlefield Gallery (Manchester) and has work for sale through Manchester Art Gallery. Katie is also the co-founder of collaborative project ‘Catflap Collective,’ a painting and curatorial collective based in Manchester.
These experiences have led Katie to have an in-depth knowledge of a variety of art materials, techniques and concepts. She is passionate, enthusiastic and strives to make every lesson fun, informative and unique.

Michelle graduated with a BA(Hons) in Illustration from Manchester School of Art in 2019. She works in all mediums but specialises in fine line ink drawings inspired by animals, myth and the beauty of the inner magic of the natural world. She is lucky enough to live near the Peak District and takes a lot her inspiration from the landscape whilst out hillwalking.
Michelle feels that although drawing is essentially looking and putting down what we see, we all see things differently as our imaginations come into play. This is what makes every work of art unique. She believes that everyone has the power to create and making art is a means of tapping into our creative selves. She is passionate about teaching and helping people to discover their inner artist.

A graduate in Fine Art from the University of Hertfordshire, Susan is an artist and teacher who is passionate about the enjoyment and meaning gained through the practice of making art.

She says, “As an art teacher, I value the development of creative skills to explore feelings, describe experiences and generate ideas. The expressive nature of colour and the communicative power of drawing are fundamental aspects of visual expression that can be explored through a variety of techniques, media and materials.”

A practising and exhibiting artist, Susan works in both representational and abstract fields across a variety of subject areas, including the figure, landscape and natural form. She continues to develop and explore her own love of drawing and colour through her art practice.

As well as a tutor for the ColourWheel Art Classes in Welwyn Garden City, Susan is also the Artist-in-residence at an independent secondary school in St Albans.

I joined the online ColourWheel classes because I wanted to learn new techniques. So far, I’ve loved every lesson, there’s something different to learn every week, the lessons are easy to follow and everyone is so encouraging.
At first, I was a little reluctant about doing an online course but you can work at your own pace and Becca (tutor) makes sure she gives each student individual feedback several times throughout the session. The best bit is at the end you don’t have to pack up and leave, you can just carry on with the artwork.
ColourWheel classes have inspired me to take up art again, the classes are my time when I can switch off from work and home life and do something I really enjoy.

I am a qualified teacher and have been teaching for 23 years.
I first graduated with a degree in BSc Hons Psychology before entering teaching. Whilst teaching, I returned to education to do a degree in BA Hons Fine Art. Subsequently I decided to do an MA in Fine Art as my passion for the arts just continued to grow.
I have always loved art since I can remember. My passion started as a child but only grows with age. I am also a practicing artist and have had many exhibitions in the UK and abroad.
I enjoy painting in acrylics but also enjoy drawing in all sorts of mediums and recently started as a textiles artist too. I carry out lots of public commissions and exhibitions but very much enjoy teaching art to adults which is why I enjoy teaching at Colour Wheel Art Classes so much.

Clare is our partner in Fleet and she is hosting classes in Hartley Wintney.
Clare’s background is in Finance and she is a qualified accountant. Married with a young son, Clare took time out to raise Joshua. When returning to work Clare realised she wanted a change of direction in her career and that she wanted to work in a creative field which led her to join ColourWheel.
Clare is very creative, she loves all crafts but especially sketching although she feels her painting could be improved. She is enjoying working on art and craft activities with her son. Clare finds art absorbing and relaxing.
When not working or being mum Clare is an experimental and adventurous cook. She loves to walk and travel and photographs her visits and outings, creating her own photo books. She enjoys planning and design in the garden and at home, often sketching out her ideas.
Clare is delighted to be combining her love of art and all things creative with her work and is looking forward to accompanying her students on their own creative journey.

Becca has been painting and drawing all her life, starting with primary school art competitions to the formative Art and Design Foundation diploma, then on to gaining a first class BA Honours in Fine Art Painting from Manchester School of Art, a year of post graduate study at the renowned University of Auckland (New Zealand)’s Master of Fine Art and then gaining a Professional Graduate Diploma in Education for Art and Design back in the UK at the University of Bolton’s teaching programme.

She has been teaching for 10 years in the North West and also Singapore, The Netherlands and the Manchester Museum. She has a cult following for her unique Stranger-Than-Life Drawing classes run from her studio in Macclesfield Museum’s Old Sunday School and brings this drawing experience to festivals and historical locations, pushing the traditional life drawing model to create theatrical, playful work.

Becca regularly exhibits with London contemporary artists’ collective The Tunnel, East Cheshire Tech-Art collective IDST! and works with Macclesfield Town Council to bring art to the community and local schools. During 2020 she gained a commission for a public artwork in the form of a large-scale mural in Macclesfield town centre and co-directed the Barnaby Festival’s Homemade Parade. She makes multi-media art works with her robotics-engineer partner Loz and together they have a baby daughter called Luna, who will be painting and drawing soon too!

These courses are so good I am doing it all again. I have loved course one at Topsham and discovered that I can paint, and I can draw, me who thought I could do nothing.
The people I have met have made my Wednesdays. We have had fun and companionship and the guidance of a super teacher in Chloe, who is always encouraging and supportive and never ever critical.
If you think you might enjoy an art class, go for this one. You will not be sorry.

I have just finished my second term with ColourWheel and have signed up for another.
I look forward to every Tuesday and am never disappointed. I learn something new every week and am constantly surprised at what I can achieve with the right guidance and support.
Joanne and Chloe work incredibly hard to create a perfect environment for relaxed learning. Whatever stress is going on in my work and home life I find it starts to disappear as soon as I start my drive over to Ide. I find the whole experience immersive and restorative.
To anyone who is thinking about doing the course I would say ‘just do it’, you won’t be disappointed. Money very well spent. Lovely, friendly people, everything provided and a beautiful venue.

I signed up right from the start in January 2019 with some trepidation, having never even studied the subject to O Level standard (showing my age) but had always had the desire and that feeling of what if…
Jayne’s fabulous teaching, positivity and encouragement together with Michael’s wonderful support and hard work have fulfilled my hopes and more. As other students have already mentioned the feel good factor derived from producing a pleasing piece of work coupled with the ability to switch off from life’s pressures and troubles has been an absolute bonus, not to mention the wonderful social aspect.

I’m writing this review with heartfelt thanks to Michael, Partner & Jayne, tutor. After a taster session in Dec 2019, I started in Jan 2020 at Usher. This is such a peaceful environment, with laughter, fun and the concentrated silence of effort put in by all trainee artists. It covers all mediums & even though there are some I’ve had difficulty with, Jayne has shown me that I can overcome my fears and produce work I can be proud of!
During covid & my subsequent 12 week isolation, Michael delivered much need supplies to my home on a weekly basis. Not to mention the emailed weekly projects and zoom classes, which I can say in all honesty kept me sane! Jayne has the ability to make each person feel talented making sure there are no negative experiences. If anything, both Michael & Jayne promote the student. Jo initially trained at Dartington College of Arts and she then worked in Community Arts for many years doing street theatre, painting murals and creating public sculptures. She returned to fine art painting, completing a BA Hons in Sheffield and also experimented in dance and performance art (Edinburgh Fringe). After becoming a mother she taught textiles and drawing in schools and colleges. Throughout this time Jo continued to paint large abstract canvases and exhibited widely in solo and group exhibitions (RWA & National Open). She has recently enjoyed creating contemporary theatre sets for youth drama, but her passion is in drawing from life and experimental painting.
Jo is a local, professional artist and has her own studio in Stroud. She believes art is a restorative process, individually and socially.

Shivani is currently undertaking a two-year artist residency at a boarding school in Surrey. She has a Masters in Painting from the Royal College of Art and also spent a year studying drawing and painting at the Cyprus College of Art. She has exhibited widely in the UK, Cyprus and New York, and is excited to help our students on their artistic journey.

Lesley is our ColourWheel partner in East Cheshire. She lives in Poynton with her husband and son. Lesley had a successful career in education and training for over 35 years before deciding to make a complete lifestyle change and become a ColourWheel partner in December 2019. Before joining the ColourWheel family, Lesley attended classes as a student and was inspired by what she was able to achieve and the amazing people she met. She believes that art can be a great antidote to the stress of everyday life and is keen to help others find their inner creativity! As well as a love of football, Lesley enjoys walking and travelling, exploring new places both in this country and abroad. She is passionate about helping others to learn new skills – and, most importantly, have fun doing it! You will receive a warm and friendly welcome at ColourWheel East Cheshire!

Rekha has lived in Solihull all her life, she loves the area. She has always enjoyed art and she is a keen interior designer. Rekha has recently completed further education in management, wants to put her skills into a new venture and is looking forward to welcoming her students to her art classes. Rekha is a mother to two boys which keep her busy but when she has free time she loves to read and travel and explore new areas and exciting places.
Nadia is a socially engaged visual artist holding a first class Hons BA Degree and a Master of Arts in Fine Arts. She was born in Italy were she attended The European Institute of Design in Naples and the Intercultural Mediation BA degree Course in Padua University. From 2006 she started exhibiting at an international level, including projects involving communities in collaboration with other artists and art organisations. She is currently a project coordinator for Dartford Arts Network.

Audrey has followed a career as an artist-teacher since graduating from the University of Leicester in 1977 where she gained a B.Ed (Credit) in Art and Design and Certificate in Education. At the start of her career, she taught in a large comprehensive school in Bolton and extended her experience and expertise across the key stages to later coordinate Art and Design in a community school in Rochdale. This experience led her to becoming a Senior Lecturer in Professional Studies at Liverpool Hope University from 1998-2011, where she led and taught students on the BA undergraduate and postgraduate  Art & Design courses wishing to becoming teachers and art specialists, together with organising a series of annual community art workshops in disadvantaged areas of Merseyside as part of the ‘Aim Higher’ schools’ initiative.

 

The opportunity to continue her professional development led her to Switzerland to the College of Beaux Arts to continue her studies towards a Diploma in Stained Glass and Fine Art, which she successfully completed in 2015.

 

Audrey’s work is inspired by both the natural and manufactured world and explores the various ways in which the landscape has been shaped through history. She has exhibited her work in London and abroad, in Switzerland and NSW, Australia, and continues to paint in her spare time.

Cecilia Lopez is a Visual Artist, based in London. She loves connecting with people and places, the passion of her life (and challenge) is to experiment with colours and materials. She has a Master Degree in Industrial Design and a PhD in Architecture. She has taught Design for many years as well as facilitated art workshops for kids and adults in various settings. 

When not teaching in class, she works from her home studio creating paintings and illustrations, gaining inspiration from nature and rich colours with lots of textures. Karen earned her degree in Art from Florida State University on an art scholarship she was awarded from a contest through the state of Florida by designing the Florida Bicentennial Medallion. There she majored in Art and Design with additional Business Curriculum. Karen raised two daughters, owned a bridal business, taught K-12 art classes, worked in sales, management, and visual merchandising. Karen loves creating portraits…especially custom pet portraits! She enjoys working in Pencil, Pen, Ink, Pastels, and Acrylics! Her focus now is to give back to others while sharing her passion and love of art. Karen can’t wait to guide you step-by-step through every fun and creative art project!

Asia enjoyed teaching adults and children for 20 years, self publishing a book, and being a small business owner in the personal development industry. Asia loves playing with watercolor, working in her herb garden, and creating jewelry with precious metals. She is passionate about exploring a variety of mediums which attracted her to ColourWheel. Asia and her husband, James, have two grown sons. She lives near the North Carolina Coast, loves the outdoors, and enjoys visiting the beach every chance she gets. Asia loves meeting new people and creating a community space for people to get messy, make mistakes, and shine. She looks forward to welcoming you, supporting you and cheering you on in art class.

Libby is a designer-maker, artist teacher living with her son in the Malvern Hills area. She has always worked within Art and Design, which has allowed her to create, build and develop with a broad variety of materials, techniques and processes. Libby completed my BA(Hons) degree in Design Crafts at Hereford College of Art and Design and found her passion for making contemporary antique furniture and constructed textiles based on a theme she called “working the magic”.
After her degree Libby completed a PGCE with Marches Consortium specializing in Design and Technology and taught Resistant Materials, Textiles, Graphics and Art and Design to a GCSE and A-level standard. She currently works in the busy Art and Design department of a local college as a Demonstrating Technician and covering Lecturer. Libby enjoys supporting others to achieve their outcomes and working within a variety of arts including Photography, Textiles, Fashion, Print, 3D and Fine Art.
In her spare time Libby enjoys spending it in the countryside, traveling, motorcycle touring with her partner and developing new ranges for her crafts business.

Linzi trained at Bradford Art College gaining her B.A. in Art & Design. She went on to become a named designer at Liberty’s and sold her hand-printed silks exclusively in Liberty’s of London. Linzi had always written and performed her own songs and she signed to Warner Chappell’s as a songwriter having won the Nordoff Robins singer songwriter award through Radio 1. She gained her teacher training and PG Cert in Fine Art & Professional Practice and went on to become Head of Art/Textiles in London. Linzi became Assistant Director for KW4K’s which culminated in a charity performance in aid of Anti-Slavery International at the Linbury Theatre, Royal Opera House called ‘Break the Chains’. Her interest in art, theatre, set design and music has been a constant thread throughout her life. From set designing on London fringe productions to set design for a production at The Traverse, Edinburgh Festival she has facilitated community music and art projects both in the UK and abroad. In 2007 Linzi devised and led an Arts initiative in Banda Ache, Sumatra, following the tsunami. She worked with over 100 students who had been directly affected by the tsunami, creating artworks with the children to raise money for the Sukma Banska schools. Linzi worked at Compton Verney Art Gallery in the Learning Department, before becoming Head of Art at The Croft School for five years. She continues to work with ‘Stratford Youth Theatre’ making and designing sets and props for their productions.
Presently, working as a freelance Artist/Teacher she continues to make and exhibit her ceramic sculptures and prints. She is particularly drawn to textiles and drawing, selling her work at Narberth Pottery in Pembrokeshire. Linzi hosts and produces The Art Show on Welcombe Radio, Stratford upon Avon, a community radio station. The Art Show showcases and celebrates all art forms made in the community, and is an online space that enables creative people to share their work.

Rav is our partner in the beautiful, rural region of Malvern in Worcestershire located at one the most iconic and characterful Abbeys, The Abbey Hotel. She grew up in the midlands and studied finance and management. She has spent most of her career in sales and marketing working nationwide. She enjoys travelling with her husband and taking advantage of Worcester’s many walking trails. She has a very philosophical view to life and thrives on encouraging others to realise their true potential. She believes that through art people can express themselves in ways that they didn’t think was possible.

Emily is our Partner in Guildford, she is married with three children, all girls! Emily started her career as a dancer before studying for and gaining a qualification in interior design. Emily is highly creative but has an innate sense of customer service, she runs lovely daytime and evening classes at her beautiful venues in Godalming and Guildford.

Nathalie has always had a passion for drawing and she specialised in Art and Art History whilst studying in France. She did her Foundation course at Atelier de Sèvres Babylone in Paris and then attended the Olivier de Serres Art School. Moving to England at 23 she specialised in murals, taking commissions from schools, restaurants and also for homes. Nathalie developed a strong interest in portraiture exhibiting four times at the National Portrait Gallery as part of the BP Portrait Award. Recent commissions include Sir Christopher Snowdon, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Surrey and Dame Helen Alexander, Chancellor of the University of Southampton. Nathalie has been teaching for a number of years and enjoys encouraging her students to explore their artistic side and develop their skills.

Angeli is a Partner covering the beautiful villages in Runnymede and Surrey Heath. Born in Hampstead, London, Angeli grew up in Old Windsor on the Berkshire/Surrey borders and has lived, worked and studied across London. Initially a business graduate, her career followed various roles in buying, sales and marketing, mainly in the IT software industry, providing a rich source of skills for business support. Whilst working and looking after her family Angeli pursued her interest in developing her creative skills through part-time college courses, subsequently graduating with her BA (Hons) Fine Art from the Buckingham Chilterns University College. She enjoys country walks, pottery and DIY, including a project to set up a garden art studio.

Rebecca has always had a love of art, from drawing colourful characters to ceramics. Because of this, she studied Art and Design before going to the University of Wales, Newport to do a degree in Animation, her favourite part was learning from the teachers of the Disney animators. Rebecca has worked in education for nearly ten years, from teaching art to children and young people that didn’t fit into mainstream education to traditional crafts and archery in an Iron Age village. She currently works in a museum and gallery organising events and hands-on activities for the visitors, alongside finding any excuse to be creative.

Jacquie has spent the last 20 years of her career in corporate logistics working for some of the industry leaders. Having always had a passion for art and regularly attending part-time courses she wanted to move out of the corporate environment to allow her creative side to flourish. Born in Scotland and moving to Sheffield for work before moving yet further south eventually settling in Hertfordshire she is thrilled to be doing something she is passionate about. Jacquie loves to read, paint, draw and cook, she restores furniture and lives with her beloved rescue cat Obi.

Natalija is our teacher in Romiley. She is currently studying for her Masters at the Manchester Metropolitan University where she also gained her BA Hons in Art and Illustration. A freelance illustrator and designer, Natalija has been teaching art for several years. She has a broad knowledge of a variety of art techniques and loves helping people explore art and expand their creativity. She runs a number of workshops and classes and has a love of animation. She is enthusiastic and a wonderful communicator and her enthusiasm in class is infectious.

Kathy is our ColourWheel Partner in Stockport. Kathy lives in Stockport with her partner and son. She has spent 10 years working for local charities involved in health and dementia, supporting and managing volunteers. Kathy is also a trained English teacher, and enjoys working with people to help them achieve their best. She loves being creative, cooking and being outdoors and travels around the country in her campervan whenever she can. She welcomes everyone to her friendly, supportive art classes.

Coming from a family of actors and singers, Jane originally trained at The Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London as a scenic artist going on to work in professional theatre for many years. After finding having small children and the theatre didn’t mix, she later studied Figurative Sculpture at Stafford Art College and went on to set up her own professional art studio based in Cheshire where she now creates both commissioned sculptures and paintings. Jane has taught art within schools and community settings for over twenty years and has been “artist in residence” in both the UK and Europe for both charities and corporations. Rania Sultan is a dedicated art educator and experienced designer who has lived in Didsbury since moving to England in 2006. She holds a Master’s degree in Design and Art Direction from Manchester Metropolitan University and a PGCE in Life Long Learning from the University of Huddersfield. With a professional background in graphic design and teaching, Rania trained at UCEN to be a Graphic Design Tutor and has since worked in various educational roles, supporting and mentoring students across different learning environments. Rania is passionate about all forms of art, especially drawing and graphic design, and loves helping students build confidence and express themselves creatively. Outside the classroom, she enjoys spending time with her family, walking swimming, watching movies, and travelling. As a mother of three, Rania understands the value of creative time and is proud to share her passion for art with the ColourWheel community.

Sally is our Partner in Cheltenham. Sally’s background, before leaving to look after her growing boys was hospitality, she lived in Bahrain working with the airlines, followed by arranging and wedding planning; she has also spent time as a teaching assistant. Sally now looks after her family, she loves keeping active and spending time with her beloved chihauhuas, Saphire and LouLou. Sally loves design and has a special interest in art therapy, particularly in the area of mental health.

Chloe was born in Harrow and grew up in Buckinghamshire. She gained a BA (Hons) in Illustration from Brighton University and went on to complete a PGCE in Secondary Art and Design at Roehampton University, Surrey. Chloe has worked in the Education Department at Tate Britain where she supported learning programmes for school students, teachers and adults. She enjoys drawing on location, visiting museums, craft centres and art galleries. Chloe also likes to take inspiration from travelling overseas. These adventures include three days trekking along an ancient oxen trail with women from the red Hmong in Sapa, Vietnam. Chloe left her teaching job at Camden School for Girls, after eleven years to relocate to Exeter. Here, she is combining teaching workshops and continuing with her own art practice.

Joanne is our ColourWheel Partner in Exeter, Devon. She spent most of her adult life living and working in Madrid, Spain. Whilst bringing up her two sons she continued her career in education as a primary school teacher ending up as a head teacher of a British school in Madrid. She recently returned to the UK with her husband, took some time out and signed up for ColourWheel classes in Windsor. She has recently moved to Exeter and ColourWheel presented an ideal opportunity for her. She enjoys all forms of art with music being one of her main passions. She enjoys living an outdoor lifestyle and is never happier than being at one with nature in Devon’s beautiful countryside.

Jayne went to Cleveland College of Art and Design, then went onto Manchester Metropolitan University where she did her BA Hons in fashion. Moving to London following her graduation she worked in design for 4 years before having a ‘Damascus’ moment and completely changing direction in her career. Wanting to do something much more fulfilling Jayne retrained as a teacher passing her PGCE at Greenwich University. Jayne has taught art for many years, she is extremely active in her community and has a passion for the art and culture of the North East, particularly wanting to bring the heritage of her area to the local children. She has produced murals for the local area and also directed the Durham Ensemble’s performance in Stratford for the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Associate Schools Playmaking Festival. Jayne is currently fascinated by trees and her work is focusing on pen and ink but experimenting with watercolours. She is also planning to get back to life drawing.

When she is not teaching, working on her art or looking after her family Jayne loves to work on her allotment growing her own fruit and vegetables. She loves cycling, yoga and travelling in Northern Europe and Scotland where the landscape gives her inspiration. Jayne is married with a daughter and lives just moments from our Durham venue at Ushaw College.

Michael is our Partner in Durham, he is hosting art classes in the City and surrounding areas. Michael grew up and has lived in the Durham area all his life, he is a husband and a father of two. He has spent a large part of his working life with the Royal Mail and is very much looking forward to a role where he works with people as they learn and grow their artistic skills. He is a natural people person and facilitator who will make sure the students have a wonderful class experience. Michael loves the surrounding area, he likes being outdoors and is a very keen sportsman, he loves running, cycling, fell-walking and is often accompanied by his faithful companion, a black lab named Dodge.

Over the last three years Michael has gained excellent knowledge and hands on experience of running classes. Has grown his business significantly, now running four classes from the same location. In addition, he has demonstrated agility, responding quickly to the changes needed during lockdown and ran two fully subscribed zoom classes. He has maximised earnings by tailoring his classes to suit the climate of uncertainty. Michael has managed and marketed his area with huge success and his classes are always fully booked with a returners rate of over 80%.

Ewa is an enthusiastic, warm and encouraging teacher and is extremely popular with our students. Ewa studied Applied Art at Hertfordshire University. She is a talented artist and sculptress and her work promotes British culture and history. Ewa works with English Heritage designing costume and scenery for events. Her work is exceptionally detailed and is shown around the UK. As well as teaching art Ewa is a talented horsewoman and teaches jousting along with other equine combat techniques.

Steve is our Partner for the Butlers Cross daytime and evening class, he has a wealth of experience managing the teams delivering a first class customer service experience in often difficult situations. The move to ColourWheel is a breath of fresh air for him and allows him to work with his passion for art. As well as art, Steve has many hobbies and interests and he has recently completed an Open University degree in Humanities. He is a father of two and is very involved in the local community, serving on several committees that serve the local youth groups.

Shelagh is a painter, printmaker and teacher. After years spent working in the world of publishing, she went back to university again, gaining a degree in Fine Art from the University of Reading, followed by a PGCE in Art Education. She has taught in schools and in adult education, and strongly believes that everyone can reap the rewards of exploring their creative potential. Shelagh exhibits regularly in group exhibitions and attends as many workshops as time allows – she loves learning new skills and finding different ways to be creative.

Antoinette is a talented, fun and lively teacher. She is a freelance artist, fine art restorer, and visual arts tutor. She graduated from Wimbledon School of Art with a BA (hons) degree in Technical Arts followed shortly after, by her training as a conservator of easel paintings. She works mainly in the medium of painting both in her art and restoration practice, but has worked on large scale installations and sculptural pieces for commissioned projects as well as film and theatre.
Antoinette enjoys the process of teaching art, sharing her creative knowledge and skills, and seeing her students progress. Over the years she has worked with a wide range of young people and adults through organisations such as South Hill Park, the Tate Galleries and Woking College.

Vivienne is our ColourWheel partner in the Reading area. Vivienne was born in Reading, returning there to study Mechanical Engineering at Reading University. She then spent most of her working life in Africa, most recently in Tanzania, where she was coordinating projects to provide clean water and sanitation to some of the poorest communities. She returned to the UK in 2016 and decided to take some time out to do something for her own personal development – she signed up for ColourWheel classes in Windsor. She was so enthralled with the classes and amazed at what she had gained from the experience, that she signed up for a second term and started to enquire about the franchise opportunity. The rest is history, as they say! Vivienne is a keen environmentalist and loves nature and animals, which are her main inspiration when drawing and painting. She believes that art is one of the best therapies for life and wellbeing.

Inge is a professional painter and enthusiastic teacher with 15 years teaching experience, including painting, life drawing, illustration for fashion design as well as art and design history.
She completed her B.A. Hons. Degree in Fine Art and History of Art in Cape Town, after which she changed direction and became a qualified cabinet-maker, eventually starting her own furniture design business.
Painting called her back however, and she has been painting and teaching art full time since 1999 working with people of all ages and abilities.
In 2016 she was chosen to participate in Sky Portrait Artist of the Year, which aired in spring 2017 on Sky Arts.
She entered again in 2019 and made it through to the Finals of Portrait Artist of the Year 2020 on Sky and Channel 4.
Inge continues to exhibit in Open Studio events, as well as group shows. Inge specialises in figurative, narrative oil painting.
Some works play with the characteristics of portraiture – her figures are characters in a suggested narrative – akin to a film still. The paintings invite the viewer to participate, to inquire.
A recurring theme in her work over the last 19 years has been light within darkness. The light is the source that drives her, the faith, even embodied in the work she produces. It is all about the mystery and beauty of the unseen and unknown.

Erica is a freelance illustrator, designer, artist and teacher. Erica is passionate about art, jewellery design, and visual communication. She has a PGCE in Art Education from Goldsmiths College and a BA (Hons) Illustration from Southampton Solent University. She has taught art in local schools for many years as well as teaching art to adults in various settings. Erica also facilitates workshops for clients such as The Tate and The Wellcome Trust. She is an author, her book Cutting Edge Fashion Illustration has been published both is the UK and US. Erica lives locally with her husband and pug Pedro. When not teaching in class, she works from her home studio creating illustrations and jewellery designs. Erica has been teaching with ColourWheel since January 2017.

Rene has been our ColourWheel Partner in Maidenhead and Windsor since September 2016. She enjoyed a rewarding career as a Food & Nutrition teacher in secondary schools for 24 years. She lives locally with her husband in Windsor, with their children grown, she transitioned into adult education for a change of lifestyle & the ability to travel often. Rene grew up in South Africa, has travelled extensively, living in the US and Australia. She visits South Africa 2/3 times a year to visit with family and dote on her gorgeous grandson Mikey. A very creative person, she enjoys making cakes for special occasions and sewing when she can. Rene is passionate about helping others, with her students help she supports The Princes Trust, Schools in Africa, Making Scrubs for the NHS & Age Concern. Rene enjoys meeting new people, she creates a sense of community within her classes, believing the social aspect of art class compliments the tuition to create the perfect environment for creativity and friendship. I currently attend ColourWheel Art classes on a Wednesday evening at Camberley Cricket Club. I have found the art classes very helpful and enjoyable. The art teacher is a very knowledgable and friendly person. The setting is great and the classroom is perfect! The class is made up of a mixture of men and ladies with varying experience (though mostly beginners, like me!) and all of them are very friendly. The course work is very interesting and we learn (try out as well) a number of different mediums, i.e. drawing with pens, pencils and charcoal, oil and soft pastels, watercolour and acrylic paint. We also get taught colour mixing, composition, colour theory/harmony and light logic. All in all, a wonderful experience.

I used to love art when I was at school, that was some 35 years ago, but I never knew I had any talent. Discovering the Colour Wheel with Chris and Heidi was like a middle age awakening to me. I loved it so much. Great ‘banter’ with the other students as we stepped each week through learning steps towards composing our pieces of art. At the end of the first 14 weeks, I could not wait to come back and redo it. A little hesitant as to whether we would be just repeating the same thing, I have to give credit to Chris and his teaching abilities as he brilliantly approached the building steps from a different angle and each week I definitely learnt something new. I now feel confident in having a go with a variety of mediums knowing some of the things that can be achieved, and I now very rarely throw something out. It’s a brilliant course.

Not having touched anything artistic since my early teens, I was very anxious to begin studying art in my retirement! I need not have been concerned. The ColourWheel course has been carefully planned to enable me to gradually build up my knowledge and experience with each week’s activity introducing something new but further developing what we have already learned. The tutor is warm and encouraging, the atmosphere safe and friendly and I have been delighted with how I have progressed. I look forward to it enthusiastically as a highlight of my week. Katie Greenwood is an artist that excels in capturing the life and beauty of nature, particularly that of her home in the Turks and Caicos Islands. She moved to the U.K. in 2010 to complete a BA at Loughborough University for Illustration focusing on acrylic and resin work and continued on as a freelance artist creating for galleries and sharing her knowledge of various mediums through teaching. From there she acquired a job at a ceramic studio and became enthralled with the media that would allow her to combine her illustration with the 3 dimensional form. She went on to complete her MA in Ceramics at the University of the Creative Arts. She has exhibited her artwork at galleries in London and completed pieces for organizations such as the RSBP.

Heidi lives with her family in Romsey and her daytime and evening classes will be held locally. Heidi graduated from Portsmouth University with a BA in International Finance and Trade. She since met her husband and now has two children, aged 12 and 8. Prior to joining ColourWheel Heidi has experience of running her own restaurant business and is now very excited to be facing a new challenge. Along with her busy home life with her family Heidi loves to cook and tries to make time for sport. She has a love for art and her dream was to go to art school. Her practical side won the day but her creativity has never left her and she not only enjoys creating art herself but loves watching others grow and develop their skills.

I have been sketching and painting on an irregular basis for about five years but had failed to progress from a basic level & was about to give up. A flyer came through the door and I noticed that the course provided all the materials & would teach many different mediums. I decided to give it a try and glad I did, the lessons are informative, we use different mediums & learn different techniques (Acrylic to Watercolour Paints, charcoal, inks, pastels to name just a few). Most of all it’s fun being with a group of likeminded people who help each other. There is a chance to socialise during coffee breaks, last year there was a private exhibition of our work held at Braywick Nature Centre in the evening. We also enjoyed a lovely a Christmas lunch as a group at Gogos at Windsor Marina. In fact, the only thing wrong with the course is that the 3 hours seem to pass too quickly! I regained my enthusiasm for art, and enjoyed it so much that I have now enrolled for my 5th term.
